So I've been freaking out a little with my BMs. Only 2 of the 5 have bought their dresses, and 2 of them are my sisters. The other is in Spain at the moment and can't get a dress. So I'm okay with her waiting till she gets back in August. My MoH (my oldest sister) has been searching eBay for a dress. She's trying to save for my bachelorette and the trip out here, so I understand her motives, and really I don't care that she's not buying it from the store. I'm in no way a bridezilla.

Well, I told her to check Craigslist, because my mom and I like to purruse it and look at the ugly dresses and giggle. So I told her to check on there, and she found the dress she wanted in the right color, and even with the right sash! And it 's only 50 bucks! She's really excited and is heading to David's tomorrow to make sure she's the size she needs to be. The girl has 3 dresses for sale from what I understand in a few sizes, so I'm really happy. Plus the lady added these great wide straps so her 'ladies' aren't all over the place, which will make my mom really happy.

So if you are a budget bride and have budget BMs, then maybe suggest they try this route before they really worry about the money!

Call them what you will; the recipe calls them "individual pound cakes", but I think they're more like a muffin.. aside from the obvious muffin shape, they were also a bit lighter than pound cake usually is. Either way, they were pretty delicious and even though I have the recipe filed under "dessert", they still made an excellent addition to breakfast. ;) Blueberries have made their way to the farmer's market here and I figured this was a good recipe to start with.

Music:Remember When It Rained - Josh Groban.

Despite our completely different schedules, M and I managed to get together for a couple hours yesterday night after I got out of my concert. Our town was having its annual "Moonlight Madness" sale, so we wandered the shops and talked until about 11pm. I also got more info about the wedding from her, and I got to talk to her fiance on the phone. He's promised to call M whenever and have her ask me if I'm available when he has a 3 day weekend so that I can get the chance to finally meet him.

M also told me that they'd had to move up the date of the wedding my a little over a month to May 9th of 2009. The reason is because T's (M's fiance) brother is leaving for Basic Training on June 9th and his brother is supposed to be his best man. This of course means I need to step up my dieting into double time if I'm going to look halfway decent for M's wedding.

M has decided that her colours are blue and green, althought she doesn't know what shades yet. She also told me that she's found a possible colour and style for the bridesmaid's dresses.

The colour is called "Pool", which I like (so that's one non-issue for the moment). My only concern so far is that she likes the Haltertop style, which, given my current size I really cannot pull off.

Here's a few examples of what she said she was looking at.

Number One

Number Two

Number Three

Number Four

Number Five

Number Six

I like numbers 2, 3, 4, and 6 so far. I think I like number 4 the best because I've always been a sucker for full length gowns and the way it's cut would look decent on even my current (non existant) figure. M said she wanted a more spring like wedding, so if she goes with shorter gowns I'd prefer 6 over 2, but they're both high waisted, so it's a lose-lose situation for me either way.

That's about it for now, I'm too tired to think of anything else. I'll edit or post again if I think of anything in the morning.

Time:11:54 pm.
1) I'm not moving to Minnesota. The company can screw me, repeatedly, and because of my....interesting...temperament, I'll get over it. However, once they start messing with Adam, I get angry. You need me, bitches, not the other way around. I'm intimidated by the idea of being unemployed, but today was the VP's last day and he specifically sought me out to tell me he's going to look me up once he's in a new role if he thinks there's something that would fit my skillset. May not work out, but it was gratifying to hear nonetheless.
That's pretty much all I have to say about that.

2) Speaking of which, while I haven't received my 60 day notice yet, my last day is going to be October 24th - the day I fly down to Disneyworld for my 5th anniversary. I think this is a good omen somehow.

3) My brother got engaged over the weekend. I'm very proud of him and it was very sweet - and sentimental for me because he proposed at my grandparent's house, where he and I spent a lot of time together with my grandparents growing up (and where he and his fiance live with my grandfather). I wish Adam got along better with my brother - he holds grudges longer than anyone I know, even if they are with good reason - but I was still glad I got to share in the moment. (Jeremy proposed at his fiance's son's 5th birthday party, so all of her family and mine were there - it was nice.)

4) Dragoncon is making me irritated and I don't want to go, but I already paid for plane tickets. Wonder if I could convince Adam to go somewhere else instead (New Orleans, maybe???) They got rid of the filking track for some unknown reason, and they're just so huge that it's tough to have fun anymore. I know that sounds odd,, but not only are they spoiling other conventions for me because everyone does things bigger and better - but it's also getting boring and politicized itself. Perhaps I'll take a few years off Disney and Ad can take a few years off dragon*con and we can go somewhere nw and exciting instead.

5) Dark Knight was one of the most intense movies I have ever seen - there was no downtime. I wouldn't say it's my favorite movie of all time, but it was very, very good.

Thank god for the Daim bars that were going for 2-packets-for-the-price-of-1! Just in case you guys do not know what Daim bars are, they are actually Swedish chocolate bars- hardened caramel wrapped in milk chocolate. They're yummy. You can definitely get them from Ikea!

What I need on my person when I leave the house on Saturday:

Amanda's gift
Big bag of candy
Bag of chips/etc
Extra chairs
Blanket for truck bed
Duffel with clothes for Sunday

Tomorrow is Amanda's birthday party, so that means Texas Roadhouse (cinnamon butter!), and then Batman/Hellboy at the drive-in. I am very excited about Batman, of course.

While I managed to slightly improve in RE4, I am still in the first chapter and have now come across the problem of running out of ammo and healing items. I still suck (hardcore) at aiming and I find being mobbed by enemies to be a very cheap style of gameplay. Most survival horror games don't swarm you until you are in the later stages of the game...and even then, they didn't swarm you 15 at once...

On a lighter note, I received most of the comics I ordered in the mail today. What I got was:

Captain America Omnibus (Cap #1-25, plus a couple one shots!)
Boys, Volume 2
Punisher: Circle of Blood
Batman & Son

So, wheee, I have some reading to do.

Subject:Question about David's Bridal accessories (plus a favour to ask...)
Posted by:nessaneko.
Time:2:48 pm.
Hi all! Although my wedding is a couple of years off yet (currently planning for Feb 2011, since I'll (all going well) graduate from law school at the end of 2010 and February is a nice summer month here) I'm already getting into the planning side of things. I'll be making my dress and two bridesmaid dresses, so it's never too early to get started planning!
While browsing for dress styles that I like, I came across this comb and fell in love with it. I'm planning to have my hair down, long and curly/wavy, with little pearls strung through it to give some texture, and a fingertip veil fastened just at a point at the crown of my head, so if this comb is small enough to just sit above the veil, it seems perfect. I was wondering if anyone has actually bought it and can give an insight on the size/shape when it's actually being worn? And how much it actually costs, since there's no price on the website...
Now for my favour (behind a cut just in case)... )

Both my cousin and my father have developed diabetes in recent years. My cousin seems to be adhering to his diet more than my father, so I hunted around for a yummy recipe to take to the family. (I've been loading them up with baked goods, most of which my cousin can't eat.) The recipe site was linked in the comments to an entry in this community. As I had (almost) all the ingredients for this recipe, I adapted it and I have to say I'm rather pleased. These oatmeal raisin cookies came out wonderfully cakey and, after discovering the wonders of spiced oatmeal raisin cookies, I don't think I'll ever make oatmeal cookies without the spices. Yay! The nutritional information is included with the original recipe, and it may be slightly different since I made a couple substitutions. I hope these fit into my cousin's diet! I made a double batch so I could freeze some for the next time I see my dad, too.

Is it weird that my mom fusses a whole lot more about the details of the wedding than I do? It's not that I don't care (duh! it's my wedding!), but seriously, I don't care for every single minute little thing. At times it feels like it's my mom getting married and not me.

Just venting a bit, I guess...anytime I disagree and/or seem not to care so much about what she's got to say, she gets all defensive and lashes out. Today she said she didn't want to go to the wedding or be involved in it anymore (I know she's not serious, but she was upset). I feel bad for her getting that way, but at the same time...geez.

Why does wedding planning have to get so absurd at times?? Will it really matter after it's all said and done whether the bridesmaids wear the optional straps the dress comes with or not? Really! I'm happy enough that they all have the same dress and same colours, so I don't know if I should truly fuss about whether some want to wear the straps or not, and whether they may or may not all look the same or not (again, just by the difference of straps/no straps!).

I don't know...it just seems a very silly reason to argue about. Ugh.

FIRST LOOK AT ABRAMS' STAR TREK!

I know... it's not much.  Apparently Paramount, in their INFINITE WISDOM *sarcasm*, decided not to show off any footage, or anything else, at San Diego Comic Con.  It seems that all they're doing is handing out these four posters, which go together to make one large poster.  They're also on display in this weeks Entertainment Weekly.

I have to admit, though... I like what little I'm seeing!  What do you think?

I was looking through a magazine called wellwed in new york today at barnes and noble. In there, they had a bouquet tied with a sheer hot pink and chocolate brown ribbon. I have been googling for about 15 minutes looking for that ribbon. If anyone knows of good places to look for thick sheer ribons with polka dots, please help! Thanks.

EDIT:: behind the cut is a picture of the ribbon. :) I had to do a screencap to get a picture, but i found the article. Read more... )

Subject:Rehearsal Dinners
Posted by:adistar.
Time:7:30 pm.
I know I have plenty of time to think of this (10/09 bride) But I've been wondering about rehearsal dinners tonite.

For those who are already married how much about did you pay for your rehearsal dinner? I do want something at a restaurant because I don't want to have to worry about doing it at someones house and cleanup etc etc.

So for those who did it at a restaurant what did you do in terms of food? Buffet, pick from 2 or 3 entrees, or just let them order what they want.

As of right now our guest list for the rehearsal dinner is only at about 18 people, so I could just let them order what they want. If the list grows though I think I would like to go the buffet route or something.

I dont know this is all pretty random right now, but for those who did do their rehearsal at a restaurant what did you do in terms of food (buffet, seated din etc) what did it cost (per person or total) and what was included in that price.

I just want to know what we are looking at here

THANKS!

today's job, wonderful girl.

got a chance to finally do something in the new expanded studio space, this wall is just about done, i just need a few more books to complete it. this corner was ready to shoot though, i think it's coming along pretty good, it's got a nice classic playboy feel to it.

i think a lot of the new space will be going in that direction. it's so nice to have all this room to really dig into, i couldn't be happier with the expansion.

Subject:Question about already-established couple readings
Posted by:lddurham.
Time:12:49 pm.
I've been to two weddings in my entire life and neither one had any readings, so I'm a bit fuzzy on the subject. I am assuming they are words of wisdom, deep thoughts, etc, to be shared with all, read by someone important, yes? And the couple picks them out, not the reader, right?

If I have that correct, does anyone have any suggestions for possible readings that would be appropriate for a couple who has already been living as married, have kids, house, pets, all that? There are so many out there that seem to focus on the finding of love, the start of a journey, the joining of families, the long road ahead, etc. For us, this is just a stop along the way, a moment in the spotlight and a moment for our love and commitment to finally be recognized.

I've looked in anniversary and re-commitment places on the internet, but my Google-fu must be lacking because I'm just coming up with quotes (which I am using in the programs), but nothing lengthy enough for a reading. My idea is to have my one attendant do the reading so she doesn't feel obligated to do a speech (which she will feel obligated to do even though she hates them and "can't write" -her words). And, honestly, I'd like to lengthen the ceremony since this is what it's all about for us.

Thanks for any help!

Not to feel too arrogant, but seriously - is this the best age to be a fan of comics or WHAT????

I'm going to regret when the powers-that-be shift their attention to the next generation of 30- to 40- somethings, but right now I'm feeling positively “catered to”!

So what about the next generation? Hannah Montana - The Movie? The Backstreet Boys musical? A documentary about low-hanging pants?
